Why would anyone accept an absurd story like the one told by a man on bail for armed robbery a week after the murder of Rebecca Middleton?...A murder that Keith Forbes of the Royal Gazette website Bermuda Online terms "the worst, most brutal, most animal sexually-depraved, most violent and inhuman murder of any woman or man anywhere in the world"... Passersby found Becky as she died, lying almost nude in the middle of a dark, isolated road. On the very day of her death, autopsy results detailed what happened to Becky: rape, sodomy, battering, torture, cutting and stabbing...," before she was abandoned to die. Yet, despite the evidence, years of fiasco would bring international discredit, not only to Bermuda and Canada, but to the United Kingdom and its Foreign and Commonwealth Office, its place and reputation in the European, United Nations and world communities.
